Let’s head into the weekend with a smile.
Thanks to all who participated in our first thread a couple of weeks ago. Loved the glimpse into your youth sports journeys. Ready for some more community building?
Today, I invite you to BRAG on your athlete. No, we don’t need to hear about how they’re atop the homer leaderboard in tee ball or their clean sheet or how they have 15 D1 offers. That’s all great but today is a chance to share a moment when you were especially proud of your kid (or a kid you coach) for absorbing one of the myriad life lessons youth sports brings. Could be overcoming a fear or how they lifted up a distraught teammate. Anything is game that will put a smile on our faces. 😀
I'll start! 12-year-old: The first time he acknowledged ad thanked us for how much we drive him and cheer him on. Maybe it was the only time but I will take it! 9-year-old: His rec baseball team was the Savannah Bananas last year and he led the group in pregame dances which helped bond the team.
15-year-old: At 14 he asked if he could be a volunteer swim coach for the younger members of his CYO team because: "this team was my first team and I want the kids to see how sticking with swimming is cool." He is now a volunteer coach for two hours prior to his practice every Saturday and Sunday during the season.
