Thanks Melissa. I wrote a similar piece a month or so ago. Tryouts have become such a โthingโ for the athletes and the parents. The stress and pressure seems unnecessary, like many other things in youth sports today.
Thanks for the advice! The child-led post-tryout conversations make a lot of sense. We could even apply the same philosophy to college acceptances.
