Happy Friday! We’re all at different places on this youth sports journey. But if you’ve been through enough tournaments, tryouts & travails, I bet you have at least one regret, maybe even a few. So….
What is the no. 1 thing you would have done, or aspire to do, differently as a youth sports parent, coach, umpire, etc?
The floor is yours. TIA for any wisdom you have to impact. 👊
Sounds simple but I'd listen to my kid's wants, even when they were very young. Too often I'd assume they were tired or cranky or if they just got one great win or hit, they'd fall in love with the sport. Sometimes the kid and the sport just don't vibe and that's ok!

I’d play the long game more often. Sometimes we think we need to fix, fix, fix
right away. Give it a beat and see if it’s still needs mending in a day or 5. Often times they (and we) get caught up in the moment.
Perfectly said. I wanted to call my Substack The Long Game for the reasons you say but the great Molly Knight had it snagged.
Good luck today with you BIG interview. Major congrats. Can't wait to listen!!
That’s funny… it was the working title for my book for a long time! Haha
TY so much. I’m giddy.
Love reading your work!!
