Sounds simple but I'd listen to my kid's wants, even when they were very young. Too often I'd assume they were tired or cranky or if they just got one great win or hit, they'd fall in love with the sport. Sometimes the kid and the sport just don't vibe and that's ok!

I’d play the long game more often. Sometimes we think we need to fix, fix, fix

right away. Give it a beat and see if it’s still needs mending in a day or 5. Often times they (and we) get caught up in the moment.
